Ile-Ife riot: Afenifere kicks as police parade 20 suspects in Abuja
The pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, on Monday, faulted the arrest and parade of suspects involved in the riot at Ile-Ife on March 8, saying no Hausa/Fulani was arrested.
The Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, in an interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja, said the parade of the suspects in Abuja showed “undue sectional deployment of federal might.”

Assassins kill OAU lecturer

Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife were fortunate to escape when fire gutted one of the rooms in Moremi Hostel of the university.
It was learnt that the fire occurred at Room A304 of the hostel mid-day Thursday, when the school was on break.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire outbreak was likely caused by electrical appliances.

Woman, 32, Suffers Renal Failure, Needs Help
The life of a 32-year-old woman, Mrs. Oyetunbi Tinuade, currently hangs on the throes of death and she is said to be giving her family and relations sleepless nights over her health condition.

An Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court in Osun State on Thursday remanded a 60-year-old woman, Bolanle Olorunwole, in prison over alleged housebreaking and stealing.

4 get 21-yr jail term for stealing cocoa in Ipetumodu
An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, on Friday, sentenced a four-man robbery gang to 21 years imprisonment.
The convicts are Omotayo Sunday, Kamoru Satoye, Biliaminu Alalade and Fatai Muraina.
The four accused persons were at first arraigned before the Osun State High Court, Ile-Ife Judicial division on June 11, 2013 and were later transferred to the High Court, Osogbo.

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded Damilare Oladoye, 25, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Ile-Ife.

Five persons arraigned for killing octogenarian
The Osun State Police Command has arraigned four men and a woman before an Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court, in connection with the murder of one Pa Taiwo Ogundele.
It will be recalled that the octogenarian Ogundele, was killed at his residence in Igbodo Area of Ile-Ile in March this year.
The five; Ayoola Dauda, Oladipupo Lawal, Adebisi Akerele, Titus Oromakinde and Mujidat Oginni were arraigned on two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Court dissolves 10-year-old marriage over threat to life
An Ile-Ife Customary Court on Wednesday dissolved the 10-year-old marriage between Pastor Elijah Babatunde and his wife, Bukola, over threat to life.
Bukola had filed for divorce against her husband on March 26, accusing him of desertion, violent behaviour, provocation, lack of care and constant battering.

20-yrs-old man arraign by police for stealing keg of palm-oil
The police on Wednesday arraigned a 20-year-old man, AbduLahi Yusuf, in a Magistrate’s Court in Ile-Ife, Osun, for stealing a keg of Palm-oil valued at N6,000.
Yusuf was arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, housebreaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Sunday Osanyintuyi, alleged that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 2, 2013 about 5:30 a.m. at No 16, Ido-Osun Street in Ile-Ife, Osun.

Cultism returns to OAU?
Strong indications emerged last week that cultists might have returned to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Though, the students cannot tell how the prohibited group might have entered the university, they vowed to combat it by all means.
It was learnt that the generality of the students, on Thursday,March 20th, were shocked when they woke up to see insignia of different cult groups pasted across the school.
