Former Osun State league Champion, Ajiroba FC of Ife and current Champion Knights FC of Ife are set to begin their football rivalry at national level.
According to situations on ground, both teams will be playing in the 2017 Nigeria NationWide League One division 2. This will be the first time two teams from Ile-Ife will be playing in any national league.
Knights FC will be playing in the league for the first time while Ajiroba FC is a veteran club. It will be recalled that Ajiroba was in division 1 last season before they were relegated to division 2. Ajiroba Ooni will be using Ife Anglican grammar school as their home ground while Knights FC is not yet decide on their home ground due to construction that is ongoing at Oduduwa college. According to a reliable source, there is possibility that Knights FC will be using OAU sport center if Oduduwa college is not completed before the beginning of the season
